Bogdan Popa, M.D.
Expertise
Since 1999, Dr. Popa has practiced Anesthesiology in the community in several private as well as county hospitals. He has experience in delivering anesthesia for trauma, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, orthopaedics, major vascular, and thoracic cases among others. His current focus is in the delivery of anesthesia for pediatric and adult patients in the dental office setting as part of Coastal Anesthesia Consultants. Dr. Popa also specializes in the delivery of anesthesia in other office-based settings, in particular for cosmetic Plastic Surgery procedures.
Education and Training
Dr. Bogdan Popa was educated in the United States after moving to San Jose, California at age 14 from Romania, Eastern Europe. He attended college at U.C. Berkeley and is still a diehard Cal Bears fan. After college, Dr. Popa attended Georgetown University Medical School where he obtained his medical doctor degree in 1995. Dr. Popa then returned to California where he completed his Anesthesiology residency at Stanford University Medical Center in 1999. Outside of work, Dr. Popa enjoys skiing, running, tennis, basketball, hockey and other sports.
Associations
In his spare time, Dr. Popa has volunteered for corrective Plastic Surgery cases in Ecuador, South America with Rotoplast International, an organization which provides free surgical services for children with cleft palates, cleft lips, other congenital malformations and burn injuries. Recently, Dr. Popa has volunteered with a similar local organization, Fresh Start based in San Diego, California.

Dr Popa is actively involved in clinical trials through our affiliate Advanced Clinical Research Institute.
