Michael P. DeMicco, M.D.

Background
Dr. Michael DeMicco was born in Bronx, New York. He moved to California in 1975 and was awarded a Department of Health, Education, and Welfare grant for a GI fellowship at University of California Irvine. At the completion of his fellowship, he joined AGMG Medical Group in 1977. Dr. DeMicco is married and has two children. His hobbies include jogging, military history, and travel.

Expertise
Dr. Michael DeMicco is highly skilled in all endoscopic procedures including ERCP, colonoscopy, and upper endoscopy. He has performed 40,000 procedures in the last 30 years. He is the Director of Liver Studies for AGMG as well as the Director of the GI Lab.

Education and Training
Dr. Michael DeMicco attended Colgate University and then University Medical School in Brooklyn. He graduated in the upper ten percent of his class in both schools. He then did his internship in internal medicine at Nassau County Medical Center in Long Island, New York. He is board certified in internal medicine, gastroenterology, and addictionology. Dr. DeMicco also served as a senior assistant surgeon in the U.S. Public Health Service for six years. He did his internal medicine residency also in the public health service.

Associations
Dr. Michael DeMicco is a member of AGMG Medical Group. He is a volunteer clinical faculty member at UCI Medical Center. He is a member of the American Society of Internal Medicine, the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, Orange County Medical Association, and the National Liver Foundation. He is also a board member of the Pan-American Medical Association and is a Bockus Fellow in gastrointestinal diseases as well as a fellow in the American Board of Gastroenterology. In the past, Dr. DeMicco has been Director of the GI Lab at St. Jude Hospital in Fullerton as well as Director of the GI Lab at Buena Park Doctors Hopsital. Currently, hs is Director of the AGMG Endoscopy Lab. He has also served as team physician for the Los Angeles Rams.

Research
Dr. Michael DeMicco has served as prime investigator for many clinical trials that have been performed by AGMG. He has a particular interest in Hepatitis C and Hepatitis B, and he has a primary position in Hepatology with AGMG and is currently doing many clinical trials on Hepatitis C. He has served on liver panels and has published and peer reviewed many articles regarding gastrointestinal diseases.
